Pathological Gambling Treatment & Gambling Addiction

By Jeremy Stanford

Compulsive gamblers keep gambling whether they're up or down, broke or flush, happy or depressed. Gambling is all they can think about and all they want to do, no matter the consequences. Even when they know the odds are against them, even when they can't afford to lose, people with a gambling addiction can't "stay off the bet." Gambling addiction, also known as compulsive gambling, is a type of impulse-control disorder. Compulsive gamblers can't control the impulse to gamble, even when they know their gambling is hurting themselves or their loved ones.

Gamblers can have a problem, however, without being totally out of control. Problem gambling is any gambling behavior that disrupts your life. If you're preoccupied with gambling, spending more and more time and money on it, chasing losses, or gambling despite serious consequences, you have a gambling problem.

You may think you can't stop, but problem gambling and gambling addiction are treatable. If you're ready to admit you have a problem and seek help, you can overcome your gambling problem and regain control of your life. You may even do things you never thought you would, like stealing to get money to gamble or take money meant for your children. Problem gambling can strain your relationships, interfere with responsibilities at home and work, and lead to financial catastrophe.

In order to successfully overcome a gambling addiction, treatment has to focus on the unique needs of the individual suffering from this affliction. The counselors and therapists with the gambling addiction program at have experience in helping many gambling addicts recover and return to a normal life.

The gambling addiction program at many luxury treatment centers leverage the expertise of their trained staff and includes treatment of both the physiological and psychological aspects of the addiction. The staff at a rehab center is usually very experienced in dealing with the unique nature of a gambling addiction; they understand that a gambler doesn't possess the sheer will to stop gambling, that they suffer from a compulsive disorder that requires treatment like any other disease.

Luxury Rehab centers also recognize that recovery from a gambling addiction cannot take place in a stressful, crowded or unpleasant environment. This is the reason why they provide exclusive residences which are designed to make their patients as comfortable as possible during their stay and to prevent the stresses from everyday life from intruding on their recovery.

These addiction treatment centers can help you or your loved one beat this addiction and reclaim your life. If you or someone you love suffers from a gambling addiction, these centers can definitely help; if the measure is required, they can even assist in staging an intervention. When in-residence treatment is completed, an after-care program is provided and counseling is also offered along with other services for family members. Residents are comfortable, relaxed, medically supervised and worry-free during their stay, so that they have nothing to distract them from their recovery. The staff are caring, focused on ensuring patients receive the individual attention they require to succeed and have a wealth of experience in dealing with gambling addiction.

How To Prepare For A Clairvoyance Test

By Adam R Haywood

Clairvoyance is one of the most intriguing aspects of paranormal studies. There are many people who devote themselves to studying it. There is even a clairvoyance test that is administered to people who think they might be clairvoyant.

As with other paranormal abilities, there is a lot of controversy surrounding the topic of clairvoyance. There are people on both sides, equally convinced of its reality or its lack thereof. Those who have used the ability themselves, obviously, are certain that it is a real phenomenon; and many others are curious about it, either having seen clairvoyance in action or have an inkling that they may be clairvoyant themselves.

One of the biggest problems is that any people don't really seem to understand what clairvoyance is. It is basically an extra sense that can allow a person to look to the future or the past. These experiences are different for everyone, but sometimes people see things in their 'mind's eye' or they hear things.

There are those who say that clairvoyance is an ability which only a few possess. However, it seems more likely that nearly everyone innately has this capacity, but that few develop it. The ability tends to be stronger in children - but adults usually discourage these abilities, considering this clairvoyant knowledge to be imaginary. As a result, the ability is allowed to atrophy like a disused muscle.

Using a clairvoyance test program or other regular practice, almost anyone can rediscover this ability and make use of it. There are those who are naturally more inclined towards clairvoyance, but almost all of us can bring these latent abilities to the surface and develop them to some extent.

The first step to any clairvoyance test is to begin training your mind and working to activate your natural clairvoyant abilities. One of the best ways to begin bringing this latent ability to the surface is meditation.

The more you develop your abilities, the more types of clairvoyance test you may assess your progress with. You will determine the extent of your abilities to listen for information from the world around you and test whether you tend to receive this information through visual or auditory means.

While it may not seem difficult, becoming a clairvoyant is a long, involved process that requires a lot of discipline. You need the guidance of books and other people who share your abilities to really expand your gift. This is something that most people cannot do alone, because it is such a complex and intense process, just like any other major life change.

Once you are getting a grip on your abilities, you will most likely be given a clairvoyance test by those who are mentoring you. Don't be scared by this prospect. Remember that this is a learning process. Nobody in this field ever stops learning and being tested. Consider yourself fortunate to have the ability and guidance to even be tested this way.

Table Selection - Increase Your Poker Income

By Thomas Kearns

Playing poker at any time of the day from anywhere in the world is easier than ever. Whenever you get the urge you can sit down and play poker online. There is always a game going somewhere. The question is, "is there a good game going?" If you're just sitting at the first table that becomes available, you're probably costing yourself money.

Its said that all men are created equal. This is a point that is debatable at best, but one thing is for sure. All poker players are not created equal and in turn all poker games are not created equal. Playing in only the very best games available can hugely increase a serious poker players profits at the end of the day. So how do we determine which games are "good"?

If you use a tracking program to track your online play, then table selection should be fairly easy for you. You simply find games with a lot of people seeing the flop, very few preflop raises, and general weak and passive play. These are the games that you can dominate with tight aggressive play. If you play at non peak hours or play very high limits, this might not be an option for you. There may not be any such games going where you're ready to sit and play. This is a situation where your buddy list and the notes that you keep on other players is your best guide.

If you do find yourself in a situation where there isn't a table just screaming at you to sit down and walk away with the money, its time to seek out specific players. Its often right to sit down with seven very good players and one horrible player. If you can find such a player it may be profitable to isolate that player every chance you get until they go bust and leave. That's probably your que to leave as well. Be sure that you know exactly what kind of "bad player" your dealing with though. Are they showdown prone and will call you down with any flimsy hand. If so you can make a living by value betting bottom pair all day long. If you have a weak tight player who is easily run over raising all day long may be the best path. If you keep good notes while you play you should always have a good idea of who your dealing with and how to exploit their weaknesses.

If you are not practicing any type of table selection, do not have a buddy/fishy list, and are not keeping notes on your opponents, you will probably find that your win rate will significantly improve once you start implementing these simple yet effective techniques.

Choosing The Right ATV Trailer

By Jackie Michaels

It's very difficult to make decision to buy ATV trailers, when you see many choices. This article gives you guidance to select a perfect one that fulfill your requirements. There is misconception to use terms trailer, wagon and cart interchangeably. Actually these 3 terms are basically different in nature.

The trailer has a non-steerable front end and explains a unit with one to several axles. Designing of these units is based on towing a vehicle. Rigid front end keeps the unit straight while brakes applied. Therefore, trailer depends on the tow vehicles brake system in most cases.

A cart can be pushed like a wheelbarrow because it has been designed for this purpose. A cart has only one axle. When brakes of tow vehicles are applied, the cart depends on braking system of tow vehicles in most of the cases, during this process cart will remain straight due to its rigid front end.

A wagon is different from a cart because it has a steerable front end. A wagon can be controlled independently behind of the tow vehicle due to its steerable front end. No doubt controlling a wagon behind a tow vehicle is difficult task. The one of major advantage of a wagon other than its own braking system is that, it can be turn to the side when going downhill on steep grades.

There is a perception that ATV trailers are same features as a lawn trailer with larger tires on it. Although in market some trailers with limited features like lawn trailer are exist and people who purchased that one recognize that mistake quickly. There is no doubt a quality ATV trailer or cart should posses multiple extra features over a lawn trailer to differentiate.

To allow a quality ATV trailer run at high speed, it should have roller bearing. In some cases a common problem arises i.e. axle failure in rough terrain. Therefore the axle of ATV trailer should be mounted so that the frame can flex with the axle mount to prevent it from failure in rough terrain. This feature can also be obtained by low pressure within the larger ATV tires to absorb the shock.

The material for cargo beds of ATV trailers should be focused on easily replacement in nature, therefore wood, steel, and poly is often used. Wood being used for this purpose primarily. Easy to paint on steel body is one of the major advantages of using steel. Few years ago poly cargo beds were commonly used, because it prevented it from cracking and breaking in swear weather conditions.

Poly has advantage over wood and steel, in that it never rusted or rotted as wood and steel does. While using aluminum for this purpose its important to keep in mind that there is draw back of white-corrosion issues with bare aluminum exposed to the weather due to dissimilarity due to metal corrosion.

How Come People Don't Fall Out of Roller Coasters at the Amusement Park?

By Andrea Smith

Why do we "stick" to the roller coaster cars as they go upside down in a loop? Because of gravity. Why do we "stick" to the earth rather than float upwards? Because of gravity. It sounds weird, but it's true.

A coaster loop isn't actually circular. In a perfectly circular loop the radius is constant. It is more of a teardrop shape that is called "clothoid," a spiral in which the radius changes constantly. But in a clothoid loop, the radius at the bottom is larger than the radius at the top. It's much the same shape as a standard helium balloon.

If a roller coaster loop were circular, to have enough speed to hold the cars to the track as they loop over would require 8 g's of acceleration as you go into the loop. Fighter pilots black out when they experience 7 or more g's, so this would clearly be dangerous to the human body. There have been a couple of cases of designers trying to include perfectly round loops. The ride was only open for about a month in 1985 and for only a few days in 1995, but both times there were enough bloody noses and back injuries that it was clear that the ride could not remain open. One was not a coaster, but an enclosed water slide in a New Jersey park called Action Park.

To avoid the problems of excessive g forces, coaster (and water slide) designers make the loops in a clothoid shape. The rider's lowest speed in the loop is at the top of the loop. This way, the forces are 3 or 4 g's, which are exciting, but not dangerous. The rider feels the greatest speeds at the bottom of the loop, both entering and exiting.

A further way to look at it is that it is the inertia keeping you from falling out of the roller coaster. This is what presses your body to the outside of the loop as the cars go through the loop. Gravity is still pulling you down to the ground, but at the top of the clothoid loop, the acceleration pulling upward is much stronger than gravity.

Top 8 Ways To Spot A Poker Bluff (Even Online!)

Spotting a poker bluff online is tricky. In offline play, you can watch body language and get physical cues as to when someone is bluffing. Usually unless they are a professional, all poker players give off signs they are bluffing through body language. Online, though, you don't have the ability to read body language, so how can you tell if someone is bluffing?

People still give off signals, even online, that they are bluffing. Some are better at covering, but others are a little loose and easy to catch. Either way, the following are 8 ways that you can spot a poker bluff online.

1. Pay attention to chatter. Some people cannot seem to hold their tongue. Some people who bluff will be chatting away. What they say may not match up to how they play and that is what you are watching for. Players may just reveal their bluff in what they say without ever realizing it.

2. A person bluffing may raise before the flop and quickly raise again. They are driving up the pot and hoping you don't have a hand you feel confident about.

3. If someone jumps into the game quickly or chooses to sits out and then changes their mind right as the cards are being dealt then they are someone to watch. They probably won't have a good hand, but are simply impatient. If they keep raising or they call quickly then chances are they are bluffing.

4. It is always smart to watch someone who goes all in with a low show on the table. This person may just be ready to call it a day and figures why not go out on a high note.

5. Get to know playing styles. The best players mix up their style, but your average player will usually follow the same general patterns. If someone starts playing odd then they should be watched. They may have a good hand, but chances are they are trying to bluff. Get to know the other players styles so you can spot when things are not quite right.

6. Watch aggressive or loose players. If you notice someone who is always playing aggressively then you never really know when to trust them because they cannot possible have an amazing hand every time.

7. Another thing about watching players - watch what is shown at the end. If someone keeps falling short then you know they like to bluff and you will keep an eye on them in the future.

8. People who play fast are a danger. Someone who is just playing fast and not putting thought into what they are doing is a loose cannon. They may not even have a clue how to play. Don't let them get you. Watch what they play and don't buy into their bluff.

These 8 ways to spot a poker bluff should help you to start being able to cut through the bluffs that are thrown your way online. After some practice and some time you should start to be able to spot online bluffs just as easily as you do during an offline game.

How To Count Cards

Card counting is a common strategy used to play and win at blackjack. If you have wanted to learn how to count cards, but have been worried it is too hard, then read on. You are about to learn simple steps to counting cards that will get you started. If you want additional information there are plenty of great resources all over the internet that teach the various methods of card counting. This should be enough, though, to get you started in card counting.

The high-low system is one of the most common methods of counting cards. It is also one of the easiest systems to understand. Before you start to learn how to count cards, you need to understand that card counting is not really about counting the actually number of cards, but rather figuring the ratio of high to low cards that remain in the deck. It may seem confusing, but just follow along and you should start to understand.

Assigning Values

In the high-low system you will assign point values to each card. Low cards include 2,3,4,5 and 6. These cards get a value of plus one. High cards are the 10,jack,queen,king and ace. These cards get a value of minus one. Neutral cards are the 7,8 and 9. They get no value assigned to them.

To begin with learning to count cards you should practice memorizing the values of each card. Go through a deck over and over reciting the card values until you are sure you have them memorized.

Keep the Running Count

Once you are feeling that you have the card values memorized you can start working with keeping a running count. This is more practice to get you ready for the actual game.

To keep a running count you start with a value of 0. As you flip over cards from your deck you will add or subtract the values. For example, if you have a king, queen, 2 and 8 you would end up with a count of minus 1.

Keeping the running count will likely take much more practice that just memorizing the values. It is essential, though, that you get keeping the running count down perfectly. You should keep practicing until it becomes like second nature and you don't hesitate anymore in figuring the count.

True Count

Once you are ready to play an actual game and count the cards during the game you will go from a running count to the true count. To do this you keep the running count and divide it by the number of cards remaining in the deck. The true count will tell you what to bet.

If the true count is positive then bet more. If it is negative then don't bet as much. This allows you to play smart and only bet when you have a good chance of winning. In the end you will likely win more than you lose. Card counting can be a great way to start improving your odds at the blackjack table and help you start to make more when you play.

The Historical Roots Of MMA: Muhammad Ali Vs. Antonio Inoki

By Ross Everett

Decades before mixed martial arts became popular in the United States, events matching fighters of different fighting disciplines were very common in Japan. They weren't called "mixed martial arts" at the time, but that's essentially what they were. There's an entire history of pro wrestlers fighting specialists from other martial arts (particularly judo) that were leaving out, but during the 1970's Antonio Inoki began to put the concept of "mixed martial arts" on the map with his matches against fighters from other disciplines.

Inoki would often face other martial artists in fights that are widely accepted to have been "worked" (having a predetermined outcome) in the same manner as professional wrestling matches. While Inoki faced a number of karate, judo and boxing champions his most famous match was certainly his fight against world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali.

There's still much speculation about how Muhammad Ali came to fight Japanese wrestling legend Antonio Inoki, and even more uncertainty about what happened immediately before and during the fight. Ali took the booking because he thought it was to be a big paycheck for little work. Most accounts suggest that his handlers agreed to the 'worked' finish without his knowledge, and once he found out that he was to 'take a dive' he refused.

By the time the fight began, Ali's handlers had obtained a ridiculously one sided set of rules that prohibited Inkoi from using a closed fist, striking Ali in the head at all, using any chokes or submissions or even trying to take the fight to the ground. Were it not for the huge amount of money he'd be leaving on the table, Inoki would have been justified in not fighting at all under these highly restrictive and one-sided conditions.

The painfully boring event that ensued was, despite many suggestions to the contrary, an actual fight. Inoki spent most of the match on the ground, unsuccessfully imploring Ali to join him and throwing kicks at his opponent's legs. Ali did even less throughout the match, throwing a few jabs and trying to protect his knees and legs. The fight was scored on a 5 point system, and ended up in a 74-74 draw. It's worth noting that Inoki had three points deducted for very dubious infractions: the first for throwing (and missing) with a drop kick, the second for throwing an elbow to Ali's head and the third for a swift kick to Ali's ribs. Had these deductions not occurred, Inoki would have won by decision. From a strict standpoint of scoring boxing, he probably deserved to win since he at least tried to execute a fight plan despite the restrictions he faced. For all practical purposes, however, a draw was the proper outcome. Both guys got paid and no one won, least of all the fans.

The fight was officiated by former pro wrestler "Judo" Gene Labell, a legendary tough guy considered at the time to be the 'baddest man on the planet'. He could have easily beaten up both men, possibly at the same time. That might have provided some much needed entertainment to liven up the tedious charade masquerading as a fight.

The fiasco didn't hurt Inoki's popularity in Japan whatsoever. Oddly, he became something of a hero for trying to take the fight to Ali despite the one sided rules. He would remain one of Japan's most popular pro wrestlers and later serve in the country's parliament. Inoki's fights against other martial artists remained wildly popular, and are often credited as being the forerunner of PRIDE, RINGS and the major MMA organizations in Japan today.

Point Spreads And What They Mean

By Simon M Skinner

sports that people bet on have a point spread or line associated with them.

People new to betting may not understand the point spread system Point spreads make the sport more interesting and increase understanding of the teams because sports analysts on TV often refer and compare teams' skills by discussing point spreads. Of course one must remember that although point spreads are widely discussed, betting is not legalin all US states.

If you want to add a little spice to your understanding of the game and to your betting enjoyment then a good understanding of point spreads will certainly help.

An understanding of point spreads will require that you have to understand sportsetting in general. All sports have a point spread or line associated with them. These are determined on a game-by-game basis between the two teams that are playing each other.

For instance if the University of Texas is playing the University of Oklahoma then a point spread will be associated with that particular game as these are 2 major college football teams.

Any two teams are rarely equal in skills and experience one team will therefore have a better chance of winning the game depending on the teams this can be a large number.

In a game between OU and UT, then the spread is going to be lower because the teams are relatively close to each other in terms of skill and competition level.

It is usually pretty clear that one team is going to be better than the other, that is why we have point spreads if it was just a matter of betting on a game on the better team then on average 50% of bettors would win. The point spread changes the odds and means that a team has to win by a certain amount of points.

One final example would be if UT is favored, on the point spread by 8 over OU, then UT would have to win by 9 points. If UT wins by 8 then it is essentially a draw, also known as a push. You would neither lose nor win if they won by 8 points.

A Selection Of Various Movie Synopses To Look At

By Edna Moon

It used to be that you had to go to the video store to get a movie. You can now save a trip to the video store and download movies right off the internet. You will find just about any movie you want with a good movie download site. Below is a small sample.

Bar Girls: Friendly if faulty romantic comedy with a twist: most of its chief characters are lesbians who assemble at L.A.'s Girl Bar. The core personality is compulsive, wryly ludicrous Loretta Wolfe, a female Woody Allen who desires an exact better half but not truly grasping what it means to genuinely and entirely love another person. The film's shortcomings are made up for by witty discussion and believable characters. Cast includes Nancy Allison Wolfe, Liza D'Agostino, Camila Griggs, Justine Slater, Lisa Parker, and Pam Raines. (95 minutes, 1994)

Fantastic Invasion of The Planet Earth: Discharged theatrically in 3-D, this movie was pretty much a disaster. A young couple finds themselves caught in a deserted town encircled in a mammoth bubble. The original title, The Bubble, was far less deceiving: there are no foreigners and no "invasion" in fact, and not much enthusiasm, either. Cast includes Filmed in widescreen Space-Vision. Cast includes Michael Cole, Deborah Walley, and Johnny Desmond. (91 minutes, 1996)

There's Something About Mary: Ted has had a crush on Mary since high school. A good friend convinces Ted to search Mary down. So Ted hires a private detective to locate Mary. This sets the stage for a fun comedy romance.

Swordfish: Gabriel Shear, Swordfish, knows where there is a lot of money. The problem is that it is in cyberspace. To steal it, he kidnaps former super hacker Stanley Jobson. He then pressures Stanley to comply, or suffer consequences.

M: Fascinating, brilliant re-make of the Fritz Lang classic set in L.A., with Wayne as young killer being chased down by a group of mobsters. Cast includes David Wayne, Howard De Silva, Luther Adler, Karen Morley, Joy Cartright, Martin Gabel, and Norman Lloyd. (88 minutes, 1951)

Faces: Highly personal drama in regards to numerous infidelities is one of the few Cassel films to become a big hit. Here's a commanding film with awesome action, particularly by Carlin and Cassel. Cast includes John Marley, Gena Rowlands, Lynn Carlin, Seymour Cassel, Fred Draper, and Val Avery. (130 minutes, 1968)

Mystery Alaska: Remote Alaskan town's hockey team is given the possibility to play the N.Y. Rangers as a publicity stunt. There is a hodgepodge cast of characters and an unavoidable big game finale. Crowe is the only one to ascend above the material. Cast includes Russell Crowe, Burt Reynolds, Hank Azaria, Mary McCormack, Lolita Davidovich, Mike Myers, and Little Richard. (118 minutes, 1999)

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: On Harry's eleventh birthday, he learns about who he is. He is the orphaned son of two very powerful wizards. He too has magical powers, and he is invited to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He is off on the biggest adventure imaginable.

Jury of One: Trudging melodrama in reference to a lady who goes to shocking extremes to defend her child who is on trial for murder and rape. Gabin plays the magistrate. Cast includes Sophia Loren, Jean Gabin, Henri Garcin, Julien Bertheau, and Michel Albertini. (97 minutes, 1974)

Truth About Quickness - Basketball Quickness Drills

By Will Theydon

There are several Basketball Quickness Drills that can help you move about quickly on and off the court. I'm sure that every game would require you to be fast on your feet, especially with the different tasks you need while in the game. Tasks like cutting someone off for defense, receiving the ball and jumping for a shot.

One of the most common basketball quickness drills is the rope jumping. All you need is a good rope wherein you can alternate jumping with both feet first, then switch to jumping with one foot then the other. Cone jumping may also do the trick for you. It's easy, you just need to jump with both your feet back and forth over a 6 inch cone for a given period of time.

Leg bounds will also do for you as one of those effective basketball quickness drills. After lining up along a baseline, you stand with your arms tucked to your sides and your knees bent. Jump while you throw your arms up and your body extending so you can go far and higher. Make sure you land in the same position where you started and head for the base line to finish to exercise.

You may also try doing line jumps while standing and your toes are pointing towards the line. Then you jump over the line quickly as you can while still on your toes, make sure that your heels do not touch the ground. You must remember not to touch the line while jumping close to it.

These basketball quickness drills will help you increase your skills if you do them on a regular basis. You should be consistent in your practices to be able to get the results that you need. Set your goals and work hard to attain them.

The film is lazy at times, however filled with feeling and reality, and is relatively moving. Hefty acting jobs all around, with unconventional although powerful projecting of Bronson as the boys' depressed dad. Cast includes David Morse, Viggo Mortensen, Valeria Golino, Patricia Arquette, Charles Bronson, Sandy Dennis, Dennis Hopper, Benicio Del Toro, and Kenny Stabler. (125 minutes, 1991)

The Age of Innocence: A humble although powerful rendition of Edith Wharton's novel in reference to an obstructed romance between an involved lawyer and a divorcee, in 1870s Manhattan. Starts off with a super Jazz Age montage opening, then gets slowed down in static, stagy therapy as older Boles interconnects the tale of his ill-fated event to his grandson. Cast includes Irene Dunne, John Boles, Lionel Atwill, Helen Westley, Laura Wish Teams, and Julie Haydon. (81 minutes, 1934)

Fantastic Journey: Astronomically amusing science fiction tale of a medical team decreased to microscopic dimension, and then inserted inside human being body. The film's incredible wide screen brilliance can be lost on a Television monitor however the tale and action can keep you cemented to your seat anyway. Cast includes Stephen Boyd, Raquel Welch, Edmond O'Brien, Donald Pleasence, Arthur O'Connell, William Redfield, Arthur Kennedy, and James Brolin. (100 minutes, 1966)

Michael Clayton: The ethics of a law firm's "fixer" (Cloony) are set to the test while one of its tough lawyers (Wilkinson) has a nervous breakdown during the depositions of a huge class action suit. This film is a rock solid thriller. Cast includes George Cloony, Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton, Sydney Pollack, Michael O'Keefe, Ken Howard, David Lansbury, Denis O'Hare, and Austin Williams. (120 minutes, 2007)

Boat Seat Upholstery And Textiles For All Kinds Of Vessels

By Frank Gehry

Boat seats are important parts of any boat, which should not be neglected under any circumstances. Many different kinds of boat seat materials are available to ensure that they provide the optimum safety and performance.

To make sure that the seats in your boat are of the right type for your purpose, as well as to allow for their best upkeep, which will maintain your boat's value over time, it's important to know about the skin and bones of the seats - the upholstery and the materials.

If your boat seat materials are damaged, such as fabric that is ripped or faded, or broken interior frames, your boat's value will decrease. Also, it could be harder to maneuver or live onboard of the vessel, which is of particular concern for yachts and sailboats.

There are different materials used for the skeleton - the most common ones are fiberglass, steel, anodized aluminum, or different kinds of wood (mostly marine plywood with stainless staples, and sometimes solid wood for custom seats intended to match the fittings of vintage boats).

Boat seats based around a steel frame should of course be using stainless steel, or rust will damage your seats in the long term. Marine plywood is also an alternative, but it needs to be pressure-treated and waterproofed.

Boat seat upholstery is not always present on all kinds of marine seating. Some benches are simply constructed, with hard wooden or fiberglass backrests and sitting areas, often padded but more often still unpadded.

Hard seats, as well as other kinds of seats, often come accessorized with boat cushions for better comfort. Different fabrics are available for both upholstery and cushions, mostly depending on whether its use will be in-cabin or outside the cabin.

Boat seats that are intended for on-deck use must be proofed against environmental hazards such as light from the sun and wind. Marine grade vinyl is often used for boat seat upholstery, although there are other possibilities.

On the more expensive boat seats, waterproofed and high strength nylon fabrics or even treated leather are sometimes used. Although these tend to have a higher price tag, they also look better.

Boat seat materials need to be hard wearing and sturdy. Most custom boat seat manufacturers will be more than happy to help a client to find the best material for his and his boats' needs.

Stalking Your Prey, Location, And Sneaking Up On Fish

By Captain Dustin Lee

Ever wonder why some guys catch more fish than others? There are several reasons this could be. The right location, the right lures, and you being quiet are the keys to success. Some folks never think about how being quiet may hurt their odds of catching fish.

I always remind my customers that fishing has no difference with animal hunting. Whatever type of animal you would want to hunt or catch, you should always stay quiet and keep the silence. Silence will keep them still and prevent them from running away from you or from hiding in the bushes. The same way goes with fishing. Whether you are fishing for small trout or big trout, being quiet will not scare them away. So if you have company when you go fishing, tell them to remain quiet and avoid making other noises.

To get more fish, go to the right location where fish would surely see your bait. Clear water is a good location for you to see the fish but not good enough for the fish because, when you become visible to them, they would definitely ignore your bait. What you can do is to go somewhere in the water where it is off-colored. This was what I noticed; fish has less visibility on off-colored water, giving you the opportunity to do the tricks on them and finally make a large catch.

When I say off-colored water, I am not talking chocolate milk. Just off-colored and not so green or clear. What I like to fish is a grass flat with the deeper water at the edge of the flat being off colored.

On the grass flat I will use top-waters and out in the deeper water I like to throw the Sea Devils by Brown Lures in the Amber color. If the reds are up on the flats and will not touch any of those I will take a Gulp with just a hook and toss it close to them and let them smell it out and find it. This includes a few of the tips and tactics I have for the Matagorda Bay system.

Hope to see ya on the water.

Describing a Dynamic Art

By Sven Person

Taido is a martial art created in Japan by Seiken Shukumine.

Taido has its foundations in classical Okinawan Karate.

Fearing that Budo, particularly karate, were failing to meet the needs of modern society, Shukumine founded a school of Budo called Genseiryu in the early 1950s.

Later, Shukumine saw karate as uninspired and unchanging. He became convinced that the limitations of karate lay in its linearity.

In 1964, he expanded his theories of motion beyond the confines of what could be considered karate and founded Taido.

Shukumine thought about how to make defense movements more adaptable and applicable.

Taido's movements offered many innovations: the addition of spinning and twisting movements, acrobatic maneuvers, fast and effective footwork, and a changing body angle. The word Taido translates as "way of the body."

So what makes Taido different from karate? Taido techniques use changes of the body's bearing in order to expedite simultaneous defense with attacking movements. Taido also relies on the use of footwork to take strategic angles and distance to the opponent. This footwork is functionally connected to the body mechanics that form the basis of each kick, punch, or other technique. Taido uses exciting body movement to create strong techniques and control the spatial relationship with the opponent.

Taido's strategic element is based on appropriate reaction to changing challenges instead of preset algorithms of offensive maneuvers and defense. Taido's movements are also designed for improving health and longevity.

Taido's original ideal was, and continues to be, the application of scientific methods and classical values to the future of the martial arts.

Taido's original objective was, and continues to be, the application of scientific methods and classical values to the evolution of the martial arts. According to its creator, Taido's ultimate objective is to equip its students to function at a high level in society.

There are five main rules in Taido. Keep your thoughts as clear and calm as the polished surface of a mirror. This allows you to understand the heart of things. Having a responsive attitude will help you avoid confusion. Be confident. Body and spirit should be as one. Hold yourself correctly and you need never feel inferior. fill your spirit with proper breathing methods. With the right spirit you will never feel weak. In every action, follow the correct precepts you have been taught. By doing so, you cannot act wrongly. Be adaptable in your thought and maintain freedom of physical movement. The best methods will prevent you from being beaten.

Taido includes five classes of body movements: vertical spinning movement, ascending and descending wave-like movement, dropping movement characterized by tilting the body's axis, horizontal spinning movement, and rolling and tumbling movements.

These movements are combined with strikes, kicks, and other techniques. The last category, called "tentai," includes acrobatic movements, for instance back-flips, which makes Taido spectacular to watch.

Taido has a special method of footwork, known as unsoku, as well as acrobatic locomotion, termed unshin.

Competitions in Taido include sparring, forms, and Tenkai, which is a pre-arranged combat between one "hero" and five opponents. In Tenkai the judges award scores to the teams in a similar manner as is done in many Olympic sports.

Even after this explanation, unless you've actually experienced Taido, you likely still won't have any solid idea of what Taido is about. Also, merely watching the techniques doesn't tell you what Taido is intended for. To truly understand any budo, you must get an idea of why the techniques are developed as they are.

To really grok any martial art, you have to get an idea of why the techniques are performed as they are.

Of course, Taido is an evolving art, so no definition can really encompass everything that Taido is. Each student eventually develops their own ways to apply Taido to what they do and skills. Taido itself emphasizes creativity and the development of new techniques.

It is not a martial art that will remain the same for long.

Taido is currently practiced in Japan, Sweden, Finland, Portugal, Denmark, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Australia, and the USA.
