The Guru: Harmless comedy in reference to an Indian dance professor (Mistry) who comes to America desiring popularity and fortune in the movie industry. As an alternative, he lands a job in a porno film, is befriended by its gorgeous megastar (who's truly an "excellent gal" leading a triple life), then accidentally becomes a star as the "expert of sex." Some ludicrous gags, a likable leading guy, and excellent joke performances by Graham and Tomei improve this choppy feel-good flick. Cast includes Cast includes Heather Graham, Marisa Tomei, Jimi Mistry, Michael McKean, Christine Baranski, Rob Morrow, Emil Marwa, Malachy McCourt, Ajay Naidu, and Anita Gillette. (91 minutes, 2003)
The Last Seduction: Pathologically malevolent and stunningly sensual female ditches her spouse, snatches the money he's made in a drug deal, and escapes N.Y.C. to a tiny upstate town where she allures and bewilders a local gentleman who becomes her latest patsy. Fiorentino's spicy femme fatale makes Stanwyck in Triple Indemnity look like Snow White! The movie is a scorching, seductive thriller from contemporary film noir master Dahl and author Steve Barancik. Cast includes Linda Fiorentino, Peter Berg, J. T. Dingo: An unexpected appearance by jazz trumpeter Billy Cross (Davis) in a boy's rural town empowers him to become a musician himself. Semi-Tough: Carefree comedy in reference to 2 football megastars and their reciprocal lady friend drifts too much to hit some chief points however it does have some ludicrous minutes. Reynolds' charm makes up for film's other deficiencies. Cast includes Burt Reynolds, Kris Kristofferson, Jill Clayburgh, Robert Preston, Bert Convy, Lotte Lenya, Roger E.
